Pastor Okafor apologises to actress Doris Ogala

In a stunning turn of events that has captivated the Nigerian social media space, Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Grace Nation International (Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries), has publicly apologized to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

During a live-streamed service on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the cleric took the extraordinary step of kneeling before his congregation to seek forgiveness for "past mistakes" involving the actress and other women.

Key Highlights of the Apology

The apology comes after weeks of intense public feuding, legal threats, and allegations of a botched marriage promise. Speaking from the pulpit, Pastor Okafor addressed the situation directly:

  • Public Restitution: "I am ready to make restitution to anyone, anybody, any lady I have offended. I am sorry. Forgive me," Okafor stated while kneeling.

  • Direct Mention: He specifically named the actress, saying, "I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also."

  • Admission of Imperfection: The cleric admitted he is "not perfect" and has "never been perfect," asking his church members to pray for him rather than judge him.

The Conflict: A N1 Billion Dispute

The rift between the two began after Doris Ogala accused the pastor of:

  1. Breach of Marriage Promise: Claiming they had a relationship spanning several years (starting around 2017) and that he promised to marry her before suddenly marrying another woman, Pearl, earlier this month.

  2. Emotional and Financial Damage: Ogala filed a N1 billion lawsuit through her lawyers, citing emotional distress and reputational harm.

  3. Attempted Settlement: Just days before the apology, Ogala went viral for allegedly rejecting a $10,000 bribe intended to make her retract her claims and blame "rival pastors" for the smear campaign.

Doris Ogala’s Response

Following the viral video of the pastor kneeling, Doris Ogala took to her social media to respond. While she accepted the gesture, she maintained a firm stance on the truthfulness of her allegations.

"Pastor Chris, please don't kneel. This was all I wanted. Apology accepted," she wrote on Facebook.

However, she later clarified in an Instagram Live session that she rejected the pastor’s claim during his sermon that "most of the things said were lies." She insisted, "I don't lie," indicating that while she has forgiven him, she will not allow her story to be framed as a falsehood.

Current Status

The apology appears to be an attempt to de-escalate a scandal that recently led to Ogala’s brief arrest and detention by the police—an incident she claimed was orchestrated by the cleric. With the public apology and Ogala's initial acceptance, the N1 billion legal battle may be nearing a resolution, though the "truth" of the specific allegations remains a point of contention between the two parties.
